Job Title: Graphic Designer

Job Description:
We are one of Nigeria’s leading marketing communications agency and as part of our continued drive for excellence, we are desirous of recruiting skill, qualified & self motivated individuals into our fold to fill the following vacant position

Responsible To: Creative Director

Purpose:
Design or create graphics to meet specific commercial or promotional needs, such as packaging, displays, or logos. The graphic designer is expected to produce visual solutions to the communication needs of the Company & clients, using a mix of creative skills and commercial awareness.
The Graphic Designer is expected to deliver quality visuals, with the aim of increasing the profit margins of the Company & clients as potential customers become more informed or persuaded by the graphics.

Responsibilities

  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material, and select style and size of type.
  • Use computer software to generate new images and key information into computer equipment to create layouts for client or supervisor.
  • Draw and print charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using computer.
  • Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations and logos.
  • Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients and/or supervisors and making necessary changes.
  • Study illustrations and photographs to plan presentation of materials, products, or services.
  • Key information into computer equipment to create layouts for client or supervisor.
  • Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for printer.
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites.
  • Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing.
  • Develop negatives and prints to produce layout photographs, using negative and print developing equipment and tools.
  • Photograph layouts, using camera, to make layout prints for supervisors or clients.
  • Produce still and animated graphics for on-air and taped portions of television news broadcasts, using electronic video equipment.


Knowledge and Technical Skills
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes:

  • Alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual-media.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the theory and techniques required to compose, produce, and perform visual arts.
  • High sense of arrangement and balancing for aesthetic
  • Behavioural/Management Development Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work with less or no supervision
  • Working understanding of design software e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Coreldraw, Powerpoint, Quarck Express (Minimum Qualification)
  • Exemplary design and creative skills.
  • Exemplary verbal and listening skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to think out of the box
  • Hand drawing and hand-lettering skills preferred.
  • Excellent usage of CorelDraw, Photoshop & 3D Max
  • Print production experience will be an added advantage
  • Photography skills preferred.
  • Web design experience preferred.
  • Requires general understanding of image rights and usage relative to print and online publication.
  • Must know all about branding

Educational Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of B.Sc. or HND (Lower Credit) Minimum of 5 credits in one sitting at O’ levels, including Maths and English
  • At least 2 years working experience (Added Advantage: Agency experience or work as part of a creative team preferred with work experience in at least two of the following areas: communications, business management, education, arts-related field).
