General objective
  • The Deputy Logistics Coordinator backs up the Logistics Coordinator in guiding the mission logistics activities.
  • In particular, he/she supports the completion of urgent tasks, aids the bases, and sets up Solidarités International procedures and logistics tools.
  • He/she takes on the functions of the Logistics Coordinator in case of absence.
The main tasks
Supply Management:
  • Update the supplier files and price lists.
  • Manage the Solidarités International purchasing procedures and those of the sponsors financing the mission programs.
  • Ensure the implementation of purchases, making sure they are in keeping with rules and procedures.
  • Take part in drawing up call for tenders documents as well as contracts necessitating a coordination validation.
  • Take part in selecting suppliers, and negotiating prices, deadlines and delivery modes.
  • Ensure monitoring of the supplier relationships.
  • Review the customs procedures and documentation in force in the intervention country.
Stock/Storage Management:
  • Take part in consolidating and analyzing monthly fuel consumption.
  • Help set up a theft prevention strategy for fuel and spare parts.
  • Help set up a strategy for fuel supply, spare parts and consumables.
  • Supervise the administrative management of documents associated with vehicles (log book, contracts, insurance, etc.
  • Take part in consolidating and updating the mission's inventory in real time.
  • Review the legislation in force concerning radio communication material.
  • Take part in consolidating and analyzing monthly inventory.
Reporting/Compilation:
  • Consolidate the monthly logistics reports for the bases.
  • Compile information on distances, prices, and transportation modes and companies.
  • Ensure the compilation of price lists and suppliers, as well as documents in use (import-export, exemption, taxes)
  • Take part in coordination meetings relating to logistics; represent the Logistics Coordinator upon request and/or when delegated.
  • File and archive the logistics documents.
Your profile
  • Master degree in a field related to Logistics
  • Previous experiences in unsecure and tense environment
  • Experience in supporting emergency response, preferably in conflict/post-conflict contexts
  • Experience in managing teams and building staff capacity
  • Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility
  • Autonomous, organize, ability to prioritize and to work under pressure
  • Strong computer skills (Pack office, excel)
  • English: fluent with excellent writing capacities
SI will offer you
  • According to experience, starting from 2420 euros gross per month (2200 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of 600 USD
  • SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.
Vacation:
  • During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time-off is implemented at the rate of one break every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 7-day break during the 3rd and the 9th month (with 750 USD allocated by Solidarités). He or she will also be entitled to go back to his or her home country for a 14-day period after six months spent on the mission (Solidarités will cover travel costs).
Social and medical cover:
  • Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
  • The living conditions of the base are comfortable (A.C, comfortable beds, TV, tennis table, good cooking etc) with possibility of finding a wide range of goods for cooking. Despite restriction (curfew & limitation of movement), the level of activities is quite good (Sport: Soccer, volleyball…and interactions with other INGO).  The multicultural environment allows for enriching exchanges and extensive discussions, as the atmosphere is very uplifting. The problematic aspect is that security procedures are quite restrictive (which is normal given the context) but it means that movement are limited and that knowledge of the city and the culture will be also very limited.
