The centre, which has a long-standing history of excellent performance in this subsector, commenced business as a tutorial centre for degree students of the then Correspondence and Open Studies Institute of the University of Lagos.

Requirements
- Candidates should possess a Master of Library Science, Master of Information Studies or Master of Library and Information Studies, with at least five years relevant experience in an education-related institution.
- Candidate should possess the ability to think analytically and to develop new or revised systems, procedures, and work flow, and possess the knowledge of computers, the internet, and library software.
- He/She should be able to organize job duties and work independently, and have sound knowledge of library materials and resources.
