Responsibilities
- The Security Officer is to lead operational risk management activities, ensure the safety, security of employees and organizations assets.
- The Security Officer will report to the Executive Director
- Manage the development and implementation of security standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security:
- Ensure security of the assets of the company
- Identify protection goals, objectives and metrics consistent with corporate strategic plan.
- Work with outside consultants as appropriate for independent security audits
- Work with other managers to prioritize security initiatives and spending based on appropriate risk management and/or financial methodology
- Maintain relationships with law enforcement and other related government agencies
Physical protection responsibilities
- Will include asset protection, workplace violence prevention, access control systems,
- Represent the company to external bodies on security matters (Police, Police-Community Relations )
- Investigation of security breaches and assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Must have a BSc or HND in Psychology or Management related courses.MBA will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years experience on a similar role
- Must be able to interface with different levels of management to communicate security measures (i.e. Customers, Vendors/Contractors (Security companies).
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan ahead and take initiative in resolving problems.
- Ability to direct and lead others.
- Must be self-motivated and a self starter
- Detail-oriented
