Job Title: Financial Accountant

Report To: Chief Financial Officer

Job Objective
  • Supports financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, Investigating and reporting financial data.
Responsibilities
  • Prepares monthly statements by collecting data; analyzing and investigating variances; summarizing data, information, and trends.
  • Prepares financial by assembling data.
  • Complies with state and federal tax filing requirements by studying regulations; adhering to requirements; advising management on required actions; calculating estimated tax payments; assembling data for tax filings.
  • Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data.
  • Provides financial advice by studying operational issues; applying financial principles and practices; developing recommendations.
  • Prepares special reports by studying variances; preparing budgets; developing forecasts.
  • Updates job knowledge by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices.
  • Reporting projected cash flows
  • Developing policy for company treasury
  • File all tax & fiscal requirements within statutory deadlines
  • Reviews and approves the quarter- and year-end expense accruals.
  • Oversees the employee benefit accrual calculations received from the Human Resources Department for leave, severance and termination provisions as well as accruals for merit and variable pay. Ensure supporting documentation is available as an audit trail.
  • Prepares summary financial statements and financial reports.Implements processes that ensure the data included on the report are accurate.
  • Develops and maintains a process that monitors emerging accounting issues pertaining to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for areas that may affect the organisation; familiarizes him/herself with the proposed changes, identifies the impact and introduction dates, and keeping the Corporate Accountant up-to-date on all pertinent activity in this area as well as recommending courses of action, ensuring that the organization continues to adhere to current accounting standards.
