Job Title: Manager - PR & Protocol

Location:
Lagos

Job Descriptions
  • To develop and maintain third party advocacy relationships for MTNN.
  • Implementation of media relations’ strategy.
  • Develop and maintain corporate events/protocol strategy
  • Participate in Contract negotiations to reduce cost and drive MTNN Value Creation Philosophy.
  • Evolve and maintain periodic reports to the business, quantifying the value of the print and broadcast stories that result from media leveraging of companywide activities.
  • Develop effective strategies to mitigate negative media attention and enhance positive media coverage for MTNN, managing corporate events as well as corporate gift strategy.
  • Develop strong third party partnerships/advocates within relevant stakeholders to achieve MTNN’s overall communications objectives.
  • Oversee and ensure media consultants develop and continuously enhance MTNN’s corporate image and reputation.
  • Take leadership role in cultivating and thoughtfully managing key external relationships with media and other external constituents.
  • Develop and maintain high-level contacts with different segments of the media operators – CEOs, Managing Editors, Title Editors, etc. to build advocates among the media as well as enhance positive media mentions.
  • Develop and execute External Communication strategies in alignment with the key strategies and priorities of the Corporate Services Division.
  • Attain and maintain the depth and breadth of understanding/knowledge of the MTNN’s business activities and products necessary to accurately reflect and represent the company with external constituents.
  • Drive Knowledge Management and Best Practice Sharing within own Unit/Department/Division/Enterprise-wide as required.
  • Continuously seek self-professional development to sharpen skills and capabilities in a versatile and evolving digital landscape.
  • Coach and mentor team members to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the team/Unit, awareness of all related job requirements and accountabilities and leverage human resources career development programs for staff career development.
  • Review the performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.
  • Identify training requirements of team members, develop program to address knowledge gaps and to enrich knowledge repository within the department.

Experience & Training
Education:
  • B.Sc. in Public Relations or in a related discipline.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Membership of professional PR association is necessary
  • Fluent in English
Experience:
  • Minimum 6-13 years’ experience which includes:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization; with experience in supervising/managing others
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization
  • Experience in media management in a world-class organization / multinational
  • Two years management experience
Minimum Qualification
  • BA, BSc, BEd, HND or BTech
