Centenary City PLC is a new company established through a wholly private-sector effort and funding to develop, operate and own the Centenary City in Abuja, Nigeria.

We are seeking outstanding persons to appoint into the following executive position:

Job Title: Projects Development Director

Location: Abuja

Job Description
  • The Projects Development Director (PDD) will report directly to the Managing Director.
  • The PDD will coordinate large and complex real estate projects through phases of design, permitting, construction, commissioning and operation.
  • He/she will provide leadership for the overall project management function by coordinating staff, contractors and representatives of investors and development partners including third party project managers.
  • The PDD will operate with minimal supervision as a principal project representative.
  • He/she must work cooperatively with investors and development partners and their agents as well as other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the various activities and interests of investors, development partners, government agencies and other stakeholders involved in the Centenary City project from concept to completion. These include interests in and activities related to design, financial analyses, negotiations, due diligence, marketing, concessioning, construction, etc.
  • Participate in the identification and evaluation of alternative solutions and opportunities to optimize profitability and returns on investments and to ensure that projects are completed within budgets and schedules while meeting established business objectives and design specifications.
  • Harmoniously coordinate third-party project managers within the Centenary City to ensure that third party project managers effectively manage their respective project teams including architects, engineers,workplace consultants, construction managers and administrative support.
  • Coordinate the preparation of detailed construction cost estimates and documentation for the Centenary City component projects and interface with appropriate levels of management and government to obtain any required approvals.
  • Monitor project scopes, costs, and progress and provide controls and ensure quality of the respective component projects as well as compliance with approved City Master Plan.
  • Participate in or oversee the pre-qualification and bid evaluation process for consultants, contractors, and other outside vendors and participate in the selection of vendors.
  • Interact with governmental organs and regulatory agencies as required to ensure that projects comply with the Master Plan and all applicable legal requirements and regulations.
  • Anticipate critical issues, potential problems,and risks and present to the CEO and the Director of Finance.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with the various stakeholders including investors, development partners, government agencies, arid business and investor communities.
  • Participate in the annual review of the company’s business plan and provide input and feedback as appropriate.
  • Assist in development of the annual operational plan, budget, targets and performance outcomes
Requirements
  • A good University deqree, and preferably also a Graduate degree, in Construction Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Community Development, Civil Engineering or Estate Management
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional bodies
  • At least 20 years of experience in a project development function with a major establishment, at least 10 of which must he as project manager
  • Ability to perform land use planning, site design. and land use feasibility analysis to realize the development of land marketing and sales strategies.
  • Project management experience with extensive knowledge of mix-use building systems including design issues and construction materials and methods.
  • Thorough understanding of complex private-public-partnership-based infrastructure development, debt and equity financing,
  • Knowledge of real estate entitlement requirements and processes in Nigeria.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of real estate business practices and ability to interact effectively with real estate developers and brokers.
  • Familiarity with a range of policy issues including transportation, housing, community development, water quality water policy, natural resources, and land conservation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations to large and small groups, and research and draft media and public education materials.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn environmentally sustainable construction materials and operations
