Job Title: Maintenance Planner

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews each work order/work request to see that it has been properly filled out, discusses the details with the originating department, ensures that the work scope is clearly described, that it is properly authorized, and the priority or completion date is realistic.
  • Plans all maintenance work orders received by breaking them into basic job steps.
  • Determines the sequence of each job step; and defines safety requirements, parts, materials, special tools, skills and labor hours for each step, drawings, and job procedures as needed.
  • Estimates the total cost of each work order in terms of direct labor and material required..
  • Maintains backlog of work orders a waiting scheduling in accordance with their priority limits.
  • Prepares weekly backlog report and Weekly Work Schedule.
  • The Weekly Work Schedule must contain enough planned and estimated jobs to keep the work crew occupied based on estimated Work Order hours. The approved schedule is a contract between Operations to provide the equipment and Maintenance to work on the equipment as scheduled.
  • Maintain equipment record files and equipment history files
  • Selects and schedules jobs, ensuring priorities by requesting departments are considered and preventive maintenance schedules are followed. If a work order cannot be scheduled within the prescribed lead-time, the requesting department is promptly notified so that appropriate action can be taken to get the work done in a satisfactory and timely manner.
  • Ensures that equipment to be worked on will be available and any necessary workshop or contractor support will be provided at the proper time, arranges for inspections when required, and performs other coordination activities necessary for the orderly and efficient execution of the scheduled jobs by the area maintenance supervisor and his/her crew.
  • Delivers the completed work schedules, together with the work plans chosen, each day to the area maintenance supervisor. Discusses with maintenance supervisor any special instructions or consideration
  • Reviews completed work schedules and corresponding completed work plans submitted by the area maintenance supervisors, ascertaining the degree to which schedules are being complied with, significant details of such compliance or lack of it, and the actual conformance to work order estimates.
  • Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of Engineering facilities and all equipment through 5s.
  • Ensure that statutory inspections on all lifting equipment are adhered to.
  • Reviews with areas supervisors the actual labor expended versus estimated labor and materials used for completed jobs, in order to determine corrective measures needed to improve the accuracy of estimating and improving methods of doing work.
  • Informs Maintenance Planning Manager of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside the planner’s expertise.
  • Maintains Tire management System.
  • Maintains equipment record files and equipment history files.
  • Receives completed Work Orders from the Maintenance Supervisor after the QA\QC is complete, and closes them out in IFS/Navision with the appropriate completion codes; i.e. component codes, failure codes, etc. Reviews the comments made by the technicians, update the work description accordingly and use the information for future planning purposes.
  • Maintains Warranty Register, issues Warranty Claims, returns warranty material to the Warehouse for storage and updates paid claims in the Register.
  • Maintains Fuel Register and ensures correct data entry.
  • Ensures Equipment Operating Hours are entered into the system accurately and regularly on a daily basis.
  • Provides accurate information and reports to Maintenance Planning Manager.
  • Maintains Daily and Monthly Manpower Attendance Registers to ensure efficient Manpower utilization and productivity.
  • Maintains Equipment Accident Register and ensures correct data is collected, accident reports available and costs are assigned to accident work orders.
Requirement
Who we are looking for
  • University degree in Mechanical / Electrical engineering.
  • Additional training in both mechanical and electrical fields is preferred.
  • Code of practice
  • Training in Maintenance and repair planning
    • 2-4 years experience as Maintenance Planner in any ports, mines, steel and manufacturing plants plus shift working experience
  • Self motivated
  • Analytical and systematic
  • Requires the ability to follow instructions & plan the work day.
    • Requires knowledge of wide range of maintenance planning, estimate and scheduling.
  • Requires the ability to learn fast.
  • PC Literate
