Breakthrough RESEARCH/Nigeria (B-R/N) project is under the global Breakthrough RESEARCH (B-R) project which is a USAID-funded initiative to generate research and evaluation evidence to inform USAID/Nigeria’s investments in social behavior change (SBC) programming.
We are seeking professionals to fill the position below:
Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Job Type: Contract Full-Time
Assignment Length: 4 years, dependent on funding
Responsibilities
- Plan and develop research protocols and tools of high quality and ethical standards with the support of the Deputy Chief of Party/Director for Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
- Coordinate implementation of country research working closely with the Project Director, Deputy COP, and the Research Utilization/Knowledge Management (RUKM) Advisor.
- Provide technical expertise and work closely with the data management team to coordinate data collection and analysis.
- Prepare timely project work plans, study budgets, and Quarterly reports to ensure proper review process is followed.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance and Administration at Breakthrough RESEARCH (BR) project office to ensure that the BR/N project is being implemented as per approved budget.
- Support the recruitment, training and supervision of short-term research consultants, data collectors, analysts, and field staff to ensure ethical conduct in all aspects of the research process.
- Represent the B-R/N project in meetings organized by national and international organizations, government and donor agencies as needed.
- Work closely with the BR US Senior Management Team (SMT) to coordinate appropriate and timely research deliverables.
- In collaboration with the Project Director, RUKM Advisor, Population Council Advisor and SMT, identify opportunities for strategic engagement with key stakeholders to facilitate evidence uptake at the country level.
- Work closely with the RUKM Advisor to develop knowledge products that summarize and translate research findings into accessible and effective content for different audiences.
- Work closely with the RUKM Advisor to disseminate and communicate research results at all levels through presentations, preparation of reports, and publications of papers in peer reviewed journals.
- Any other assigned responsibility identified by the Project Director or Population Council Activity Manager project.

- Associate I & Project Director (Chief of Party) and Population Council US-based Activity Manager
Qualifications
- Master's in Public Health or related field.
- Seven years of experience in a program management role related to development work in Nigeria.
- Strong research skills, including in the areas of monitoring and evaluation.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent English language skills.
- Ability to travel within Nigeria.
