The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking Permanent Database Administrator. This position is local position and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Database Administrator

Location:
Yola, Adamawa

Summary of Position:
  • The Database Administrator is responsible for all aspects of database administration which include installing, configuring, patching, backing up and recovery, troubleshooting Oracle and network application incidents.
  • The Database Administrator shall report directly to the Director of Information Systems (DIS).
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree as well as 6+ years' experience as a DBA or data analyst with an emphasis in data requirements gathering, data analysis, conceptual, logical and physical data concepts, designs and techniques.
  • Expert level with Oracle database engines (10g+), Oracle Developer and Oracle Application Server (OAS).
  • Expert level experience with creating database instance, cloning, memory management, and performance tuning.
  • Must have experience administering Oracle 10g on UNIX (Solaris preferred) or Linux platforms.
  • Experience with high availability database solutions architectures such as VERITAS Clusters, Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle Advanced Replication, or Oracle Standby Database/Data Guard.
  • Expert level Oracle Developer and PL/SQL experience.
  • Extensive experience with relational database technology.
  • Expert level report design and generation.
  • In-depth knowledge of MetaData concepts, data warehousing, and dimensional modelling.
  • Experience working on large projects, aggressive deadlines and managing multiple project assignments with competing priorities.
  • Experience with data mapping and data conversions.
  • Experience with Object Oriented analysis and design concepts.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications.
  • Must possess high level of enthusiasm and be a strong team player.
  • Attention to quality and detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on weekends to deliver time-sensitive projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned by management.

Remuneration
  • Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and job classification as approved by the University.
