Yakubu Gowon Centre for National Unity and International Cooperation (YGC) is a private, non-profit making, non-partisan, non-governmental organization (NGO) with sole aim of promoting a peaceful and united Nigeria, free from disease and poverty, where every citizen has an opportunity for self expression and the realization of their full potentials. The following vacancy currently exists in the Global Fund Project managed by the Centre for the eradication of malaria.

Programme Director

Job Description:
The Programme Director provides effective leadership for the programmes undertaken by the Centre to ensure fulfillment of the overall objective in line with set standards and aspirations of the Centre and Global Funds. He will be directly responsible for managing the prograrmne budget to deliver the planned results on malaria programme.
 
The Programme Director reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures that all projects within the programme are executed within the required timeline and standards, in accordance with the project budget, expectations of the donor agencies and planned effect on the ultimate beneficiaries.
Ensures the overall integrity of the reporting framework and timely returns to Global funds and other relevant agencies on the project.
Provide overall leadership and mentoring to project managers and subordinates.
Responsible for the overall success of the malaria eradication programme.
Identify and liaise with relevant experts to bring in their skills towards successful Programme implementation.
Ensures that all resources and logistics required for projects are available when required.
Evolve policies and strategies for partnership with relevant stakeholders group, in line with the centre’s objectives and international standards.
Manage the expectations of donor agencies and other stakeholders project feedback and reporting.
 
Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Academic Qualifications
MBBS / equivalent & MPH.
MBA/ equivalent (added advantage).
 
Experience
Minimum of 15 years post qualification experience.
Minimum of 10 years experience working with international organizations/ NGOs and liaising with governments at the local/ state and national level.
Proven track record of leading teams that delivered excellent service.
 
Skills and Personal Attributes
Very strong leadership skills.
Ability to lead a Multi-disciplinary team.
Strong Interpretational skills.
Ability to relate with government Ministries, Departments and Agencies at both the state and federal level.
Excellent Oral and Written Communication skills.
Possession of proven high moral standards, integrity and good business ethical values.
