Job Description
- This role assists the Chief Financial Officer and the Head of Business Planning and Analysis with the payables and tax/regulatory Compliance functions for all Old Mutual entities in Nigeria, management of budget control and the effectiveness of internal financial control systems.
- The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts for periods of up to 1 year.

Key Focus:
- This role assists the Chief Financial Officer and the Head of Business Planning and Analysis with the payables and tax/regulatory Compliance functions for all Old Mutual entities in Nigeria, management of budget control and the effectiveness of internal financial control systems.
- The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts for periods of up to 1 year. The focus is the following: Management of Tax Audit & Compliance within the businesses, Loading of all HFM reports (Monthly Management Accounts, Quarterly forecasts and Business plans on a timely basis), including monitoring the completeness and accuracy of financial information across the reporting systems (OIPA, DIGIATA, COMPEN, TIA, HFM & FDM) and the implementation of accounting processes, systems and internal controls.
Descriptor:
- Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within time frame.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting on all TAX matters, FATCA, Transfer Pricing and other reports to the group within the said time frame.
- Assist to stabilise and ensure sound internal financial controls by developing policies or implementing best practices.
- Manage and coordinate tax audits.
- Responsible for the rendition of statutory returns to relevant tax authorities and other regulatory agencies (other than NAICOM).
- Responsible for audit liaison as well as tax, legislative & statutory requirements.
Key Result Areas
Financial Control:
- Contributes to and implements tax strategy.
- Responsible for the internal financial control function in the business unit through other managers and their teams.
- Carries overall responsibility for the independent review of monthly financial reports and quality of financial accounts.
Financial Reporting:
- Monitor budget performances and report to budget holders including management
Governance & Compliance:
- Liaises with relevant government tax authorities including tax consultants.
- Ensures tax, legislative and statutory requirements are met.
Team Effectiveness:
- Individually accountable for staff time, tasks and output quality, over periods of up to 1 year.
- Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
- Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
- Creates a climate for optimal performance.
- Manages performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- A first degree or its equivalent in relevant field (Master’s degree is an advantage)
- At least 7 years work experience (three of which must be at middle management level)
- Qualified Accountant (CPA, CA, ACA and ACCA) or any Accounting Professional qualification from recognised Professional Body
- Relevant industry experience is required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong analytical skills
- Good Excel and PowerPoint skills
