News: SURE - P To Train 7,600 Youths, Women

Kaduna State Government, yesterday, said it would train 7,600 youths and women in various skills under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P Governor Mukhtar Yero, who announced this at the onset of the training in Kaduna, said the programme would improve the welfare of Nigerians via the provision of infrastructure, jobs and wealth creation.

He said, "We have a total of 7,600 youths and women drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state. 1,500 will be trained under women empowerment, 2,300 under youth development and 2,300 under agriculture."

Yero noted that the youth empowerment training would cost the government N42.9 million, while its women empowerment component would cost N39.9 million.

While stressing that N66.6 million would be spent on the training on agriculture, the governor said, 41 the end of the training, each beneficiary will be given a starter pack, relevant to his or her training, to enable them to establish their businesses. I call on the beneficiaries to take due advantage of this opportunity to improve on their lives."

The Deputy Governor Mr Nuhu Bajoga, said that the state government resolved to invest the SURE-P funds in human development so as to promote the people's wellbeing and reverse youth restiveness.
