John Snow, Inc. (JSI) is a US based international Public Health consulting firm and manages two (2) projects/contracts through its integrated office in Abuja, Nigeria. Through the Partnership for Supply Chain Management consortium, JSI implements the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) project for the US Government as part of the United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The purpose is to establish and operate a safe, secure, reliable and sustainable supply chain management system to procure pharmaceuticals and other products needed for the care and treatment of persons with HIV/AIDS and related infections.

John Snow Incorporated (JSI) is implementing the USAID / DELIVER PROJECT, a technical assistance project funded by USAID and aimed at increasing the availability of essential health supplies through procurement services and strengthening supply chains in developing countries. In addition to the PH program areas, the USAID DELIVER PROJECT also works in Malaria and Avian Influenza and the selected candidate may be tasked with supporting these areas of work when necessary. JSI also implements the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) contract for the US Government as part of the US Presidents Emergency Plan for Aids Relief.

JSI is seeking to employ two DDIC State Coordinators. In addition to the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH), TB and other Essential Medicines program areas, the USAID /DELIVER PROJECT also works in Malaria and Avian Influenza and the selected candidate may be tasked with supporting these areas of work when necessary. JSI also implements the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) contract for the US Government as part of the US Presidents Emergency Plan for Aids Relief.

Job Title: DDIC State Coordinator

Job Description
  • The State Coordinator will provide guidance and management support for the Direct Delivery and Information capture (DDIC) for distribution of health commodities in Sokoto/Zamfara state.
  • The successful candidates will be based in Sokoto and Gusau respectively and will report to the DDIC National Coordinator in the Abuja office.
Responsibilities
  • Provide overall technical guidance and support for DDIC activities in the state.
  • Provide technical support to state medicines management agency and state programs coordinators to ensure availability (full supply where possible) of DDIC commodities in the state.
  • Carry out DDIC system delivery teams training and workshops.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports on DDIC implementation activities in the state.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the state Ministry of Health, State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs State programs, Partners and relevant agencies at state level.
  • Act as the Secretary for the DDICTWG meetings.
  • Work closely with State Central Medical Stores (CMS) and team leaders to schedule pilot DDIC deliveries to the SOPs.
  • Prepare and circulate delivery schedules to program managers, the state CMS pharmacist and the team leader.
  • Review and approve Letters of Request from Team Leaders at the beginning of a delivery run.
  • With CMS Pharmacist, conduct monthly physical inventories of the DDIC commodities.
  • Generate the Letter of Request for replenishment of stocks during a delivery run or for emergency orders for SDPs.
  • Prepare the budget for travel and subsistence allowances for delivery teams.
  • Coordinate transportation activities with the transportation vendor for the delivery of commodities to the selected service delivery points.
  • Manage the transportation contract for smooth implementation of DDIC in the state
  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the DDIC. This will include monitoring the timeliness of deliveries and the distribution system, and take any actions as necessary.
  • Identifying areas of improvement for successful implementation of the DDIC.
  • Review and approve stock reconciliation form.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in one of the following fields: Pharmacy, Public Health, Business Administration and logistics management
  • At least 3 to 5 years of professional experience in health programs, preferably in international health care supply chain management program.
  • Specific experience in malaria, reproductive health and/or maternal and child health programs is strongly desired.
  • Ability to supervise, monitor and provide support to health facilities in supply chain activities.
  • Extensive knowledge of Nigerian public health sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and oral presentation skills are highly desired.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work independently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the field
