Hamilton Lloyd and Associates - Our client is an Oil and Gas company that specializes in providing petroleum products both in Nigerian and international marketplaces. They offer comprehensive services that span petroleum exploration and production through distribution of refined products to retail service stations. Their operations extend throughout Nigeria as well as neighboring countries.
As part of their expansion process, they have decided to hire a General Manager for their shipping arm of business.
Job Title: General Manager Shipping
Location: Lagos
Role Summary:
Duties will include developing, preparing and implementing growth and operational plans, strategic planning, and working closely with the Managing Director and other senior management to establish business plan, goals and objectives for growth that will increase revenue. The General Manager will also ensure the mobilization of the logistics team and ensure the liaisons between customers, sales, and agents.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, direction and coordination of all the activities involving the shipping departments to ensure customer orders are completed.
- Analyzing facility operations of all ships to ensure that each facility adheres to global standards and health safety standards.
- Participation in strategic business development and managing of high level local and international clientele.
- Participation in the company’s corporate strategic planning and ensure the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives.
- Ensure implementation and compliance of the requirements as defined by the local regulatory bodies and International Corporate standards.
- Implement programs that include Marketing, Sales, Purchasing,
- Distribution, Accounting/Finance, Safety, Education and employee services.
Review Financial and Operating reports.
- Manage all departments on daily basis.
- Approve wage, bonus and commission schedules in line with budget and operating constraints.
- Approve, within budgetary and corporate guidelines, expenditures for capital equipment.
- Oversee that the inventory management is consistent with sales, cash flow and financial goals.
- Oversee sales, delivery, distribution, pricing, accounting and customer service.
- Maintain proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies as required.

Candidates Requirements:
Education:
- A degree in Marine Engineering, Management Science or related field of study
- MBA
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years working experience in the shipping field, with at least 5 yrs in a managerial role
