Job Description
  • West Africa Container Terminal, Onne is a modern container terminal located in Onne Rivers State South East of Nigeria.
  • We are currently searching for a person who will be responsible for preparing all management accounting & reporting tasks.
  • Reporting to the Head of Finance, the incumbent will develop, interpret and report financial and accounting results to enable managers take proper, informed financial decisions affecting the longer term sustainability of the terminal.
  • The position is required to constantly find means for better financial reporting standards for the terminal.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the finalization of monthly statutory accounts and reporting in the Financial Management System and Hyperion on timely manner meeting group timelines.
  • Coordinate with rest of the finance team in ensuring month end schedules are prepared, reviewed as per timelines.
  • Responsible for all MIS.
  • Responsible for monitoring the budgets and rolling forecasts against the actuals on monthly basis and doing all variance analysis.
  • Responsible for tracking and finalizing revenue and expense budgets for all activities.
  • Preparation of statutory accounts and coordinating with external auditors and tax authority and personnel.
  • Reconciliation of all current accounts
  • Preparation of Cash flow actual and Quarterly rolling forecasts.
  • Ensuring full statutory compliance for all accounting requirements
  • Support in strengthening internal controls across the company and be focal point for Annual AQ.
  • Comparison of Gate moves against documents ensuring full revenues reported.
  • Comparison of costs against the volume to identify issues if any.
  • Prepares studies, reports, and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections and business forecasts.
  • Establishes databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts.
  • Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements and operating forecasts.
Requirements
This position:
  • Requires a university degree in Accounting or Business Administration or Finance related courses. Qualification as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant, or equivalent is preferable.
  • Requires at least Five to Eight years of progressively more responsible general accounting and finance experience preferably in the private sector, and in transportation or related industry.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Management Accounting fundamentals and its applications.
  • Must be familiar with best practices in the professional field of accounting and financial analysis.
  • Must be familiar with finance and banking concepts and the tools for analyzing financial decisions, based on modern financial theory, including such things as discounted cash flow techniques, capital budgeting and valuation; investment decisions, analysis of corporate financial policy, including capital structure, cost of capital, financial markets, and merger and acquisition activities.
  • Must be familiar with commercial law, credit agreements, concession and management agreements, and other related legislation, decrees, and legal opinions.
  • Must have thorough understanding and working knowledge of accounting specific software. Requires proficiency in various software applications and programs, specifically EXCEL spreadsheets.
  • Requires excellent analytical skills, including the ability to extract, compile and analyze data.
