Job Title: Senior Manager, Corporate and Commercial Law

Job Description
  • The position is a key role within Nigeria that will be responsible for managing and coordinating legal issues relating to general corporate & commercial law and intellectual property law with a view to ensuring the company  is protected from all potential risk and litigations.
Other job expectations include:
  • Provide corporate management with Legal advice on commercial Legal issues as may be requested from time to time
  • Identify all legal issues as may impact on Company’s proposed course of action or initiative
  • Address and Manage risks inherent in company’s transactions through proper legal documentation
  • Vet all documents for signing and ensure those are executed in accordance with the Financial  Delegation of Authority (FDOA)as may be applicable from time to time
  • Check that the transactions entered into by the company do not jeopardize the Company’s operating license, proper standing and continuous existence
  • Advice the Company’s on its corporate Finance & Banking obligations.
  • Check and document Corporate Finance of the company’s right and obligations under the company’s financing obligations as well as the timelines for performing such.
  • Liaise with and manage the provision of services to the Company by external legal advisors
  • Ensure that proper instructions are obtained from the internal User Group that requires the external legal services
  • Review the advice given to ensure that solutions are provided or collaborate with external advisor until a solution is proffered
Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent such as BA (Law) or J.D
  • Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL)
  • Master of Laws (LLM) degree may be an added advantage
  • 8-10 years experience in handling contractual /commercial-related legal matters.
  • Candidate must have up-to-date knowledge of commercial law, including, but not limited to:
  • Legal drafting;
  • General contract law;
  • ­Corporate and Commercial law;
  • Telecommunications industry structure and business models; and Employment law and practice.
  • Intellectual Property law.
