Roles and Responsibilities
Tax Strategy and Policies:
  • Develops and implements tax strategies, policies and compliance activities across the group.
  • Oversees all tax and regulatory matters across the group.
  • Keeps abreast with tax laws and developments that affect business operations.
  • Identifies potential tax issues and guides the group on mitigating tax risks associated with business operations.
  • Prepares tax reports to aid management decision making and for review by regulators, tax consultants and auditors.
  • Builds and maintains relationship with tax authorities, tax consultants, Banks, Industry regulators.
Company Tax Obligations:
  • Reviews returns for previous financial year and prepares current year tax returns, may involve an external tax consultant or auditor   for appropriate tax advice.
  • After filling out various tax forms, maintain a tax master record.
  • Makes necessary computation for tax and submits to head of finance for approval.
  • Ensures proper record keeping of tax documents for audit purposes and management review after remittance.
  • Ensures compliance with tax laws across the group to avoid penalties.
  • Ensures accurate and timely filing of tax returns for best practices.
  • Receives Group payroll sheet for the month and coordinates the computation PAYE tax.
  • Fills out tax forms with tax calculations for period and sends to Head of Finance for review and approval.
  • Ensures that WHT and VAT are computed accurately and remitted before the deadline.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or related field.
  • Professional qualifications in ICAN, CITN or related field.
  • 7 - 9 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in agriculture and manufacturing industries would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in transfer pricing, tax audits, tax compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficient.
