SNX Media - An ambitious plan to combat the menace of unemployment and mass poverty in the country has been scheduled to hold in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital in March.

The programme, tagged "The Making of 10,000 CEOs," is being organized by SNX Media, an Ibadan based business development company.

The Making of 10, 000 CEOs, according to the company's president Mr. Delight Owoyemi, is a bold initiative to eradicate poverty, create jobs, promote rural development and jump-start industrial and national development.

Miffed by the glut of fresh graduates seeking non-existent jobs, a situation which he describes as "a national headache," Owoyemi claims that "orchestrated efforts by the government at the federal, state and local government levels have only been a mere flash in the pan."

According to him, the whole blame cannot be laid on the doorstep of the government. In his words, "we cannot exactly lay the whole blame on the doorstep of the government as a little aloofness and a little putting of the hands akimbo by some of us may have made matters worse."

The way out of the problem, Mr. Owoyemi, said was to encourage self-employment through small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs). According to him, there is a convergence of opinion on this among all the stake-holders.

The Making of 10,000 CEOs aims at bringing together under one roof, thousands of positively ambitious youths, agencies of government and non-governmental organizations responsible for poverty alleviation and creation of employment opportunities, as well as arrowheads of the banking industry.
