Job Title: National Consultant to Support Training of Anambra and Sokoto State Health Workers on Data Analysis, Dissemination and Use

Background/Objective
  • The EU funded HSS project prioritizes evidence generation and use for decision making. This is line with the need to track health systems performance, UHC and health outcomes. The Nigerian government prioritized primary health care services as the bedrock for UHC.  Regular reviews, analysis and dissemination of information is necessary to inform effectiveness of PHC implementation.
  • As a result of the foregoing, a training on data analysis, information generation capability and dissemination mechanisms is planned to build the capacity of stakeholders in Anambfra and Sokoto State to analyze and use data on health matters to improve health outcomes and service delivery.
  • The main purpose of this assignment is to improve institutional capacity for data analysis, information generation, dissemination and use for action for Anambra and Sokoto State Ministry of Health.
Specific Tasks
  • Facilitate phased capacity building of the State stakeholders in data analysis and reviews.
  • Build capacity of the States in development of appropriate analytical products such as statistics bulletins, scorecards, data visualization, policy briefs, Fact sheets, Information notes, etc.
  • Develop State indicator league tables for review and analysis of indicators in various programme areas
  • Build capacity on the WHO DHIS2 Apps/Technical packages.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Education:
  • Essential: Post Graduate degree in public health, Health Informatics or other related field.
Experience:
  • 10 years’ experience working in public health settings in Nigeria
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of public health programmes.
Functional Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Knowledge of the health system situation and stakeholders in Nigeria
  • Knowledge of STATA and other statistical packages
  • Demonstrated ability to produce analytical products such as statistical bulletin, Factsheets, Policy briefs, etc
  • Sound methodological and technical advice and guidance to multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with State Ministry of Health ICT department
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, integrate, synergize and communicate complex ideas in English, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to monitor and communicate progress in terms of process and results.
