Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all Human Resources functions as related to all team members while dealing with Federal Government agencies and the state agencies in relation to the company and staff welfare.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports, including responsibility for maintaining personnel records, including personnel action forms, timesheets, contracts, and consultant agreements.
  • Organize and work independently on multiple assigned tasks, projects and complete assignments within specified deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels of staff and management, outside officials and agencies, and the public, expressing ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Compile and analyze complex information, and research and develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Accurately follow verbal and written directions from senior management.
  • Conduct research regarding employment issues, benefits, workers compensation, and personnel procedures and, working with Administration, apply the conclusions to personnel policies and practices.
  • Assist in hiring, including developing job descriptions and job advertisements, and screening and interviewing candidates.
  • Follow the payroll process and maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in various employment fairs. Also join on a yearly basis one or two conferences about Nigeria HR environment, law or related matters.
  • Leads the company’s yearly negotiation with the Unions (both Senior and Junior), both Local, Internal and at a National level.
  • Participate in meetings with Unions, representing the company and subject to an agreed mandate.
  • Finalize and sign agreements on behalf of the company.
  • Leads company compliance with all existing Federal Governmental, State Governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to Health Administration and so forth.
  • Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws and regulations. Approves all information submitted. Together with the M.D, and serves as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney.
  • Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Administration and other related disciplines. A Master's Degree will be of added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience across all HR disciplines, including employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, conflict resolution.
  • Experience in a shipping or marine company will be an added advantage.
  • Must have experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (MS Office Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with the workforce.
