The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi was established in 1980 as the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Bauchi, located in the North Eastern part of Nigeria with Dr. Jerome Udoji and Professor A. O. Adekola as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor respectively, while Alh. Adamu Aliyu was the first Registrar of the University.

Qualifications and Experience
- Candidates seeking to be employed as Professor must be PhD holders and distinguished Scholars.
- Must have published at least 13 Journal Articles in Peer Reviewed Journals
- Must have a minimum of 15 years of continuous teaching and research experience at University Level.
- Evidence of Postgraduate Supervision at PhD level.
- Proven Capacity for disseminating knowledge through academic and professional leadership
- Administrative ability and experience
- Already a Professor / subject to positive external assessments
