The Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) was established on 22 May 1964 in N’Djamena, Republic of Chad.  The Commission was established upon recognizing the need to formulate principles of the use of resources of the Basin for economic purposes, including the harnessing of water resources. The mandate of the Commission is to sustainably and equitably manage the Lake Chad and other shared water resources of the Lake Chad Basin, preserve the ecosystems of the Lake Chad Conventional Basin, to promote regional integration, peace and security across the Basin.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Internal Audit Assistant

Location: N’Djamena, Chad
Contract Duration: Three (3) years renewable subject to performance evaluation

Job Profile

  • The Executive Secretariat of the LCBC is currently searching for an Internal Audit Assistant.

The responsibilities of the position include particularly (but are not limited to):

  • Shall assist the Financial Controller in the internal Audit of the Commission;
  • Shall support in examining the operating practices, financial and risk management process to LCBC, Conducting audit inspection in member countries as assigned by FC during his monitoring controls;
  • Involve in compiling and implementing the annual internal audit plan;
  • Report to the financial Controller for all audit assignments carried out.
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the audit of the annual activity from the financial point of view.
  • And any other duty as may be assigned by the Financial Controller

Reporting line:

  • The Internal Audit Assistant reports to the Financial Controller

Qualifications and Experiences

  • University degree in Accounting
  • At least 5 years of work experience in internal and external auditing.
  • Excellent management and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Good personal organization with ability to prioritize effectively and adjust to rapidly changing situations.
  • Computer literacy with sound skill in MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, ability to use TOMPRO and any other accounting software.
  • Fluency in the two LCBC working languages (French and English).
  • Must be a team player with the ability to multi-task as well as flexible, and can work under pressure.
  • Good knowledge of the policies of the basin institutions and/or trans boundary water management programmes and projects and would be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of administrative procedures and regulations required by various donors is necessary.
  • Professional membership of a reputable accounting body
  • Maximum age: 42 years.
