INEC Job Recruitment Update

In order to ascertain information bothering the present INEC job recruitment exercise, I visited INEC Lagos Office at Sabo Yaba, Lagos yesterday (17th March 2010). The Issues I discussed with 2 of their management staff are:

1. The Application Closing Date
2. The reason their Online Recruitment System is always down
3. If double application is allowed (online and office)
4. And other miscillanous Issues

1). The actual application closing date for the collection of forms at their offices is Friday 19th March, 2010. (Note: The closing date was extended till 19th April, 2010).
2.) The reason the Online Recruitment System is often partially down during the day was because of traffic over-load. The system could not sustain heavy traffic as a result of many people trying to apply online at thesame time. I actually tried the site early this mroning around 4:00am and the portal was working fine.
3.) Double Application (Online and Office): they said there is nothing like online application, there is only one application which is submitting at the INEC office in the state where you want to work. The only thing you can get online is the Application Form which you print out after filling your qualifications and work experience. It is that Application Form that you attach your credentials, passport photograph and submit to the state INEC office where you want to work. You can however write your application manually and attach your credentials and passport photograph.
4.) Other issue I discussed with them is the number of staff they expecting to employ, and they said they will run in thousands, the recruitment is for the next year's general election. So, please, if you want this job try to apply, let nothing stop you from applying. I have detailed this here to help you have hitch-free application

My Experience At INEC Office Yesterday (Lagos Office)
A lot of people qued up submitting their forms. You have to exercise patience if you are submitting at the Lagos office because of the crowd trying to submit. If you are submitting more than one form (may be other people gave you their forms to submit) they will not allow you to submit more than one application, unless after submiting one you will re-enter que.

Procedure of Submission
You are expected to put all your credentials in one envelop and address it to:
The Secretary INEC
Zambezi Crescent, Maitama
Abuja

Then write at the edge of the form the post you applied for.
Before they collect your application, you will be given a form to fill which contains these parameters:
Name, Address, Phone number, State of Origin, Signature.

Items To Include In Your Application
Prospective candidates are expected to send printed hard copies of properly filled application forms
to the nearest INEC State/FCT Office along with
their:
Curriculum Vitae, Photocopies of Certificates, and 2 passport photographs.
Envelopes should be addressed to the Secretary INEC, Zambezi Crescent, Maitama Abuja.

Office Time Frame
INEC office at Sabo Yaba, Lagos opens for collection of Applications by 8:30am till 4:00pm after 4 they stop collection and lock their gate. I was there till 4pm yesterday and many people that came after 4:00pm were told to go. So make it early if you are going there to submit Application.
