The American University of Nigeria (AUN) was established in 2003 by Nigeria's former Vice President His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar along with other local and international statesmen and academic leaders. The institution was conceived as Africa's first Development University. Its mission is to pioneer service learning and build leaders who will be prepared to tackle societal concerns. Located in Yola, Adamawa State, the University is a world-class career-oriented institution missioned to be an agent of hange in the development of the region. AUN has a strong commitment to providing the skills and the leadership essential to solving the continent's critical social and economic problems. The university offers an American-style education modelled after the curriculum of American universities with corresponding approaches to teaching and students assessment. The first entering class of 124 students and 20 professors was enrolled in September 2005. The University started on temporary buildings at the AUN Academy located directly opposite the AUN campus. In seven years, AUN is fast becoming a model for other universities in Nigeria and West Africa.

We are recruiting to fill the following position:

Job Description
  • This position manages the research and reporting-related functions of the Office of Institutional Research under the direction of the Executive Manager.
  • The Manager, Institutional Research & Proposal Economics works closely with the Executive Manager to develop and maintain departmental operations that improve efficiencies, quality, and timeliness for deliverables.
  • The Manager will be responsible for institutional reporting to regulatory bodies, utilizes large databases, provides leadership as directed on AUN wide cross-functional teams for strategic initiatives, and works in coordination with AUN schools in the execution of the functions of the Office of Institutional Research.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in any scientific discipline with a strong social or applied research background.
  • 3 to 5 years working experience in related field.
  • A post graduate in data sciences or social research will be a huge additional benefit.
  • Extensive experience using SPSS, R, Strata or other Statistical Data Analysis tools is a key requirement.
  • Strong end-user computing skills especially with office productivity tools, project management tools, database management and presentation graphics.
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision but still function as a team player.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills.
  • Some understanding of project management.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
  • Ability to plan organizes and captures accurate data.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to work effectively with teams.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and accomplish goals within limited periods of time while under pressure.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, professionally, and courteously with faculty, other members of AUN, staff, Council members and other appointed officials.
Remuneration
  • Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and job classification as approved by the University.
