Africa Magic seeks to appoint a suitably qualified & dedicated individual to assume responsibility as Head of Channel: Africa Magic Entertainment. This position will be based at our facilities in Lagos, Nigeria and the successful candidate will report to the Regional Director for West Africa

Outputs
Services and information which the individual must provide to external individuals or groups, or one another to accomplish the organization’s mission and strategy.
- Design develop and Implement strategic production and acquisition initiatives to evolve the content for the channels and increase audience figures
- Effectively manage channel’s acquisition budget and continually implement cost efficient processes
- Continually refine the schedules of the channels in line with the consumer behavior preference and patterns
- Implementing competitive scheduling strategies on a continual basis to increase audience viewership.
- Support the head of production in the development of identified content for assigned channel(s)
- Lead a team of buyers, editors & program acceptance and inspire them to achieve performance excellence
- Effectively manage program rights and stock to prevent write- offs
- Manage the day by day production & scheduling issues to ensure programs are delivered on time and of the highest broadcast quality
- Ensure Regional Director is briefed in time based on quarterly schedule highlights

Knowledge and Qualifications
- A three year tertiary qualification in Media/TV
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a broadcast or production environment of which 2 years must be managing a team
- Superior computer software skills in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Thorough understanding of local content and local content production
- Intimate knowledge of and affinity for the science of programme scheduling/planning
- Sound knowledge of consumer behavior, media consumption and viewing patterns of the pay TV market especially in Nigeria & West Africa
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Local Nigerian (West African) culture, nuances and consumer context
- Knowledge of program acquisitions and distribution
- Thorough knowledge of the broadcast value chain
- Knowledge and understanding of Synergy and Macro Scheduling will be an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of Movies, Series and other short format content will also be an advantage
- Passion for Local Content
