Job Title: Communication Strategist

Location: Lagos
Job type: Contract (3 months)

Job Descriptions

  • As Communication Strategist, you will oversee all external communications for the Organization for the next 3 months, ensuring its message is consistent and engaging.
  • Prepare Media strategy plan for the Organization
  • Prepare detailed media reports, press releases, and marketing materials, Issue press releases, arrange interviews, and compile press kits.
  • Externally communicate with the media and other interested parties to announce the new project on COVID-19 and discuss organizational changes in a way that attempts to maintain a positive image of the Organization.
  • Initiate and manage relationships with media agencies.
  • Developing and managing organization’s visual brand and messaging
  • Represent the Organization to stakeholders, interested parties, and the public.
  • Serve as the company spokesperson to the media and the general public.
  • Plan and implement coordinated campaigns that achieve results on time and within budget
  • Write fundraising-related content to inspire donations and communicate the impact of support given; Help to develop online, direct mail and direct engagement fundraising campaigns that engage individual and corporate donors
  • Work content that helps build brand recognition
  • Manage all online content, including organization’s website, social media and third-party website listings
  • Oversee all aspect of communication for the Organization as it concerns prints, TV, Radio, social media and public Relation.
  • Develop, provide and formalize strategic internal communications counsel and train staff and volunteers
  • Collaborate with clients and partners to develop successful communication strategies.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to expand the Organization’s brand
  • Initiate and manage relationships with media agencies.
  • Produce reports summarizing performance and impact for external and internal audiences

Skills / Qualifications

  • Essential Experience in communications, including developing and/or implementing a wide-ranging communications strategy.
  • Excellent written communication and editing skills, particularly conveying legal or technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to produce inspiring and engaging content.
  • Experience of design software, such as InDesign and/or Adobe Illustrator, as well as printing and production processes would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written). An additional language would be an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders across cultures.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined, with the ability to work with autonomy, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate with advocacy and other colleagues to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Desirable relevant qualification in Communications or another relevant field.
