Job Title: Accountant
Location: Lagos
Job Description:
- Assist the accountant in general ledger month-end close and presentation of the balance sheet and income statement results and analysis to the Managing Director
- Financial control of income and expenditure.
- Auditing financial data.
- Financial forecasting and risk analysis.
- Summarizing current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other required reports.
- Preparation of payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
- Documentation of financial transactions.
- Liaison with auditors and providing relevant documents during audit periods.
- Management and control of various book keeping duties and functions.
- Raising of cheques/vouchers for service providers and vendors.
- Preparation checks, invoices, requisitions and other documents for accounting purposes
- Full responsibility for analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and reporting on variances.
- Preparation of a monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement Accounts.
- Management of the Fixed Asset process, policy, and procedure.
- Management of the Sales and Use Tax accounting and reporting process.
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
- Ownership of the internal and external financial and tax audit and examination processes, including assisting with the preparation of audited financial statements, footnotes and supplemental information.
- Other projects as assigned by the Managing Director.
Key Competences
- Analytical Skills and Supervisory Management Skills
- Vast in Excel and Microsoft word
- Detail oriented and organized in work;
- Experience with some accounting software
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines, Proactive and independent
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
Qualification
- 2-3 years experience
- OND/HND in accounting, banking and finance or its equivalent.
- An experience in management and equipment sales company.
- Professional certificates and knowledge of accounting software would be of added advantage
