Job Description

• An applying Massage therapists will treat clients by using their hands to manipulate muscles and other soft tissues of the body. Through touch and pressure, the massage therapist will work to improve clients' overall wellness by relieving pain, soothing injuries, increasing relaxation and improving circulation.
• A massage therapist guides clients through the service offerings and helps them choose the right treatments.
• A massage therapist is also responsible for maintaining a detailed client history, which may include past injuries or health conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• A massage therapist is responsible for treating clients through soft tissue manipulation while maintaining a safe and relaxing experience. A therapist should be good at perceiving client wishes and needs through spoken language, body language and other cues and modifying their treatments accordingly.Will always report to the owner or manager of the business.
• Should be able to Provide 30-60 minute massages to clients by appointment.
• Should be able to Guide clients through service offerings and determine which massages would benefit them most
• Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions
• Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body
• Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods
• Suggest future massage appointments and regime to clients
• Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire.

Skills and Qualifications

• The required and preferred skills of a massage therapist may include previous work experience, technical skills, soft skills and personality traits.
• Some states have educational or licensing requirements for massage therapists that should be included here.

Other skills and qualifications for massage therapists may include:

• Completed 500 hours of massage therapy courses
• Must hold current massage therapy certification
• Experience working in a spa preferred
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Time management abilities
• Demonstrated sales and customer service skills.
