Job title: Senior Accountant

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
Reports to: Medical Director

The Role

  • The Accountant will provide financial & accounting services to the hospital in accordance with accepted financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • The Accountant is responsible for ensuring the financial records of the hospital are accurate and properly maintained and regular/periodic reports & returns prepared and submitted to the Medical Director.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage financial systems, policies & processes in line with the hospitalТs overall vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain specified hospital and clinic financial records; maintains and reconciles account ledgers.
  • Maintains and enter monthly journal entries, maintain and reconcile bank accounts. Analyze accounts to trace discrepancies or errors
  • Develop and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets for various accounting and financial projects.
  • Assist with budgets; analyze and monitor financial data, trends, and indicators.
  • Accumulate facts and information in specific accounting areas and summarize in proper form.
  • Analyze financial data for discrepancies or errors; reconcile data
  • Assist in preparation of internal departmental budgets and submits periodic budget reports
  • Capturing new assets and cost of repairs and maintenance of old assets of the hospital
  • Managing relationships with the hospital's suppliers in the interest of the organization.
  • Assist in preparation for annual independent audit. Provide accurate and reliable information as needed for any other reports or audits as requested.
  • Submit reports and respond to inquiries from outside parties.
  • Apply basic accounting knowledge and techniques to all areas of work, including routine costing and variance analysis.
  • Assist in ensuring departmental compliance with established policies, State licensure and other regulatory standards, including safety, environmental and legal requirements, and policies and procedures, both internal and external.
  • Developing and maintaining financial models to support decision making of the clinic and ensuring that the clinic complies with all taxation laws.
  • Preparing monthly payroll and ensuring payroll taxes are approved and paid on time.
  • Collation of all HMO bills and confirmation of HMO approved medical operations
  • Managing and motivating team members to deliver and execute against financial requirement, while monitoring internal key performance indicators.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Medical Director.

Qualification and Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
  • Willingness to take on administrative tasks
  • Working knowledge of the current accounting software.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years post-professional qualification experience
  • Must be ACCA certified.
  • Previous work experience in a medical facility is an advantage.
