Job Title: Rig Manager - Nigerian Nationals

Basic function:
  • Fully accountable for all rig operations, safety of people and management of rig assets in accordance with Transocean’s core processes, performance and maintenance standards.
  • RM is the primary customer contact for day to day operations and is accountable for managing the customer relationship.
  • RM must lead by example and show visible demonstration of the Transocean Vision by focusing on these three areas: People, Customers and Execution.
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with rig based experience.
  • Technical or Engineering degree (ex: Drilling, Petroleum, Mechanical or other), in lieu of above.
Experience:
  • 6 to 10 years of experience in the drilling industry with a minimum 5 years in one or more of these positions: offshore supervisor, Assistant Rig Manager, Asset Manager, Operations or Project Engineer, or a successful management training program participant (ex: MAP, OMDP or REP).
Skills:
  • Ability to use company provided proprietary software (ex: GMS, RMS, and APT).
  • Must possess very good communication skills; oral and written.
  • Ability to plan, strategize and direct operational issues as required.
  • Basic understanding of Profit and Loss statement.
  • Leadership skills to manage and develop individuals within the rig and office teams.
Special Requirements:
  • Ability to motivate and lead people within a challenging operating environment. Familiarity with a wide range of rig and well operations and downhole problems.
  • Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of Transocean operation standards, in particular Transocean Operations Manuals, Well Control Handbook, Marine Compliance Manual, Maintenance Standards and Asset Management Handbook.
  • Familiarity with codes, regulations, flag state, classification societies, equipment maintenance and industry standards required for safe operations.
  • Must act as champion and mentor to rig crews to build strength in rig safety, asset management, and overall performance culture.
Supervision:
  • This position directly supervises the OIM, Asset Manager, Assistant Rig Manager and Operations Engineer when in place.
Budgets:
  • Ability to oversee budget plans in line with the company strategic and long term objectives. Clear understanding of the company’s financial deliverables.
Ingenuity:
  • Ability to prioritize and handle complex daily situations concerning operations, personnel, customer, reporting, and local labor issues.
