We are recruiting to fill the following position:

Job Title: Piping Superintendent

Location:
Lagos

Activities
  • Carries out preliminary and piping engineering studies in-house as it relates to integrity notifications.
  • Ensures that facilities engineering contractors submit all deliverables on time and reviews are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Controls the quality of the deliverables received from third parties.
  • Prepares data sheets, MTO for flow lines & production facilities relating to notifications.
  • Draws up piping materials classes, specifications for material requests with UNISUP numbers to Procurement.
  • Reads and interprets facility engineering drawings, designs and make necessary modifications or recommendations.
  • Interfaces with ECP Decentralized buyer and Procurement Department for materials requisition and delivery follow ups in a timely manner.
  • Draws up and cross-checks relevant procedures, international standards and Client’s technical specifications for notifications close out.
  • Prepares Job Specifications with relevant drawings, P&IDs and Pictures etc for approval prior to requesting commercial proposals.
  • Provides a second level review of vendors’ timesheets for personnel and equipment after field work.
  • Follows up contractors’ activities during onshore and offshore fabrication or repairs works and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Reports basis for changes in design during construction phase via the approved technical queries procedure.
  • Ensures that scope of work is fulfilled as per the contractual requirements.
  • Maintains good relationships with FO/MTNC team, with -ECP teams and with Contractor(s) being flexible enough but also strict when necessary (safety or other aspects) to achieve the objectives of the Site Modification Requests or of the Warranty Claim issues.
  • Ensures that specific HSE MS aspects are respected by the Piping Construction Contractor(s).
  • Demonstrates evidence of good knowledge about OPERCOM system and its ICAPS software tool when large Contractor works are present.
  • Anticipates and manages promptly technical queries that may arise from execution contractors after detailed engineering activities.
  • Anticipates problems by checking in due time planning aspects related to all interface issues during piping intervention works.
  • Responsible for reviewing additional works in the case of scope creep and advising of the additional cost impact and schedule change.
  • Reviews detailed piping engineering dossier to ensure that quality and correct engineering practices have been followed together at the detailed engineering phase.
  • Participates in technical and project progress review meetings when required.
  • Reviews & approves Piping Engineering construction dossier prior to dispatch to the field for implementation.
  • Carries out necessary coordination with specialists from the Headquarters and all relevant approving authorities at the implementation phase for offshore works.
  • Takes the lead and follows up on Inspections and Tests carried out on Piping materials delivered for SMR and notification jobs as it relates to Piping scope.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to ECP Engineering team as may be required during the basic and detailed engineering life cycle for SMRs.
  • Provides technical supports in reviewing Construction Engineering Deliverables, in-field surveys and in-field engineering coordination with Contractor at the implementation or execution phase to ensure that Piping activities in the field are done as per the technical requirements and within acceptable quality criteria.
  • Carries out any other work of a similar nature as may be requested by COMPANY.
Work location: Service is based in Lagos with constant visits to Client’s FPSO

Major clients:
Field Operations - Production, Maintenance, Inspection, Marine and HSE Departments.

Constraints:
Mistakes in the preparation of Piping scope of work leading to scope creep and its attendant escalation in project budget and delays in procurement of project materials could lead to production losses.

Accountabilities
  • Compliance with DW ECP HSE KPI & Objective and assist DW ECP in compliance with overall TUCN HSE requirement
  • Ensures effective and timely response to all requests for technical assistance with strict adherence to Client’s specifications, rules andengineering best practices.
  • Establishes accurate records and filing of Project files in a retrievable / accessible manner.
  • Participates in the auditing of Piping engineering contractors whenever the need arises.
  • Manages and reviews Piping Engineering Site Modification Requests (classes 1 and 2) works in conjunction with DW-ECP Offshore Construction team.
  • To be autonomous and be able to work in difficult and challenging situations.
Qualifications / Experience Required
  • Minimum Qualification: B. Sc./B. Eng. (Piping Eng.) with 10 - 20 years experience in Piping Engineering design, Site supervision, Installation, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning in an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Industry preferably on an FPSO.
  • Experience: Verifiable experience in the use of MS Office packages, AutoCAD and commissioning software like ICAPS will be an added advantage.
  • Fluent in English, strong communication skills, manages interfaces with Instrum/control and HVAC teams on Piping subjects.
