News: Auto Policy To Create One Million Jobs - Stallion Group

Stallion Group - Stallion Group has said that the federal government's new automotive policy will create, at least, a million job opportunities for Nigerians by the year 2020. The company said the initiative was a crucial step towards industrial and regional economic emmancipation.

Speaking at the inauguration of Stallion Nissan Motors Nigeria assembly plant in Lagos, Mr. Sunil Vaswani, Chairman, Stallion Group of companies, commended FG for the initiative.

"This initiative facilitated the roll-out of the locally assembled Nissan Patrol at the Stallion Nissan Motors Nigeria factory in Nigeria which also marks a historic moment in Nigeria's automobile industry. We are committed to deliver more Nissan models for the Nigerian customers in the coming months," Mr. Vaswani said.

He said the evolution of automotive companies in Nigeria would not only encourage more foreign direct investments (FDI) but stimulate industrial clusters such as original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and component manufacturing facilities, including steel plants, glass manufacturers, aftermarket shops and transportation service providers.

He cited Detroit in the United States and Ulsan in South Korea as major auto economies with strong industrial clusters while listing ABC regions near Sao Paulo in Brazil; manufacturing facilities, including steel plants, glass manufacturers, aftermarket shops and transportation service providers. He urged stakeholders to support the new auto policy initiative and discourage gratuitous importation of fully-built-up vehicles in favour of locally assembled vehicles which would create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
