Job Title: Head, Automation Unit

Location: Port-Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • This candidate will be responsible for the effective management of Automation Projects and the training of the Robotics and Automation curriculum in the classroom and laboratory setting.

Specific Functions / Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and updating curriculum and laboratory projects on some of the following topics:
  • Managing Automation Projects
  • Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Ladder Logic
  • Industry 4.0
  • Industrial Networking
  • Electricity/ Electronics
  • Automation
  • Manufacturing
  • Autodesk Inventor
  • Troubleshooting Methods
  • Instrumentation and Controls
  • C Programming
  • Vision Systems
  • Conduct classroom and shop training utilizing proper instructional techniques, practices and following the approved curriculum
  • Utilize equipment and training aids in daily lessons
  • Report all damaged or missing instructional equipment
  • Ensure that classroom and shop areas are kept clean, orderly and promote a learning environment
  • Maintain and record student attendance and grades
  • Prepare class lessons and test in a timely manner
  • Design training aids and mock-ups in area of instructor expertise
  • Administer tests and make-up tests per MIAT procedures manual
  • Ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures, and safety practices
  • Ensure that a professional training environment is always maintained in the classroom and shop areas
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education or Assistant Director of Education

Qualifications
Education:

  • Associate degree required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • 10 years prior experience in the field required
  • 5 years prior experience in training preferred
  • Autodesk Inventor experience preferred
  • Programmable Logic Control experience preferred
  • Industrial Networking experience a plus

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to teach students of various ages and diverse backgrounds
  • Effectively Manage Automation projects
  • Able to work productively and communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word and Excel required)
  • Must be able to deal responsibly with confidential information
  • Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service orientation
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be able to work alone or with a team

Performance Standards:

  • Instructors will be evaluated on their ability to promote and implement the objective of the school
  • Assure that the curriculum is adhered to, and delivered with motivation and enthusiasm
  • Proper monitoring of all equipment, supplies and tools to ensure the safety of the students and staff on projects
  • Ensure that student morale is maintained at a high level
  • Maintain a good standing on student and lab equipment evaluations
  • All internal and external reports and forms have been accurately completed and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Maintain an annual average of 95% student retention
  • Instructor evaluations will be done twice a year by management
  • Instructors evaluations will be done by students every quarter

Working Conditions:

  • Majority of time spent in education environment
  • Work will consist an 8-hour day, 75% teaching and 25% administration
  • Appropriate safety measures must be followed
  • Exposure to chemicals that are standard to the industry
