We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Government Relations Manager

Location: Ogun

Job Description

  • The Government Relations Specialist is responsible for building relationships with the local governing bodies and representatives. This position works to enhance the organization's image and public awareness to local governing authorities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develops a working relationship with external government officials.
  • Liaisons with state contract lobbyists to share the policy priorities of the organization and in some instances, attend official meetings to advocate for those policies.
  • Attends meetings, seminars and forums of interest to keep informed of changing trends or legislative initiatives. Reports significant information to the team.
  • Tracks and analyzes any legislation, regulations, or policy proposals relevant to the organization.
  • Identifies and links information for understanding and problem solving concerning government affairs including political intelligence, substantive policy issues, and legislative and regulatory processes.
  • Communicates effectively and continually with business leadership regarding ongoing legislative efforts, upcoming events, status of priorities and other information that affects organizational goals.

Physical Factors / Working Conditions:

  • Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Candidate can expect to occasionally travel locally by road to government meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, political science or related field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of related experience working with local government relations required.
  • Demonstrated professional adherence to the highest ethical, moral and personal values and standards in decisions, communications, actions and professional dealings with others.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
  • Ability to organize and meet deadlines for a wide variety of ad hoc requests.
  • Very strong verbal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills, meeting deadlines, and performing under pressure.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrate a high level of self-direction and orientation to achieve results.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information. Absolute integrity and discretion is essential.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and advanced Excel proficiency is required.
