QUALIFICATION:
Undergraduate Candidates must have a minimum of five (5) principal passes (A&B in their
WASC, NECO) including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting while Postgraduate
Candidates should obtain a minimum of Second Class Upper Division in their first degrees.

POSTGRADUATE LEVEL
– all fields

UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL – Medicine, Engineering, Geology, Building Engineering, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, etc.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIGIBILITY

The Post-graduate Scholarship:

All applicants must hold a Masters degree or a minimum of
first degree; 2nd Class Upper. Applicants who are previously recipients of foreign awards must
have completed at least two years post-qualification employment or practice in Nigeria.
Knowledge of the foreign language of the donor country is desired – particularly those applying
for post-graduate courses. All post-graduate applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C and must
include their discharge certificates.
Age limit is 35 years

The Undergraduate Scholarship:
All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of five (5) As and Bs in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or NECO. All candidates must have As and Bs in the relevant subjects to their field of study, including English Language and Mathematics. Knowledge of the foreign language will be an added advantage. The certificate age should not be more than three (3) years.
The age limit for undergraduate awardees is a minimum of 18 year and maximum of 23 years.

SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION FORMS
The completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centers nearest
to the applicants. The three completed forms must each be accompanied with the following
documents:

  • Three authenticated photocopies of educational certificate. Authentication must be done
    at the Federal Ministry of education. (The original certificate should be presented at the
    interview venue for sighting).
  • The SSCE/NECO Statement of Result must be authenticated by WAEC/NECO. Only one
    result will be accepted 1.e. May/June WAEC or June/July NECO or Oct/Nov WAEC or
    Nov/Dec NECO, as the case may be.
  • Three photocopies of Birth Certificate or Statutory Declaration of Age, duly stamped,
    signed and dated. Ach application form should be accompanied with five (5) passport
    photographs on white background.
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness and HIV/AIDS Test Certificate, obtained from a Teaching
    Hospital or Government Hospital, authenticated by the Federal Ministry of Health (the
    certificate must bear the HIV status and not RV).
  • Academic transcripts and N.Y.S.C Discharge Certificate for Post-graduate students only.
    The interview will take place in March 2010, in the six (6) geopolitical zones and will be
    advertised in three (3) national newspapers.

REQUIREMENTS
BEA OVERSEAS SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION INTERVIEWS
REQUIREMENTS FOR A NIGERIAN APPLYING FOR THE OVERSEAS AWARD
MARCH 2010
1. Candidate must complete the Application Form (the candidates for Russia should complete the
Russian Application Form)
2. All Educational Certificates must be authenticated
3. Candidates must obtain a minimum of five (5) As or Bs, including English and Mathematics in WAEC
or NECO. Only one certificate is accepted.
4. Certificates must not be more than (3) years.
5. Undergraduate candidates must not be more that twenty three (23) and not less than eighteen (18)
years, at the time of taking up the award.
6. Medical Certificate of Fitness obtained from a Teaching Hospital or any Government Hospital.
7. Yellow Card for Yellow Fever immunization from Ministry of Health.
8. The HIV Test Certificate obtained from a Teaching Hospital of the National Hospital, Abuja.
9. Authenticated Birth Certificate.
10. Clean Record Certificate from the Police.
11. Photocopies of International Passport, with minimum of two (2) year to expiry date
12. Twenty (20) coloured passport photographs on white background (size 4 x 6cm)
13. Documents presented must have the same names as shown on Birth certificates and international
passports, otherwise they must be accompanied with Affidavit
Applicants for postgraduate studies in Russia should be holders of M.Sc./M.A/M.B.B.S from Russian Universities only.
14. The age limit for postgraduate applicant is thirty-five (35) years
15. An applicant for postgraduate studies must have at least two (2) years of practical experience
16. Applicants for postgraduate course should also submit a list of published works, stating the place of
publication and a summary of future research work.
(Not more than 2 pages)
Note: - Russian graduates should submit their documents in the Russian Language.

ATTENTION: Candidates are to come along with a state of origin certificate. Four (4) copies of all credentials requested should be made ready for submission on interview date.
