Position Description
  • To supervise and coordinate the execution of offshore installation and hook up of Structures, Pipelines, and Brown Fields Work offshore Nigeria.
  • Monitor the work activities of the (Company/Contractor), ensuring materials deliveries are scheduled and all projects are completed safely and within schedule on and with minimal additional costs.
  • To complete all other assignments as may be assigned by Supervisor.
Position Requirements
Job Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Carry out all construction and hook up supervision / monitoring activities required for the successful delivery of the assigned works.
  • Comply with Project procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Implement Project HSE policies and procedures
  • Participate in constructability reviews and the planning and scheduling of construction works.
  • Participate in negotiations and resolution of disputes with sub-contractors.
  • Verify work Progress to facilitate invoicing/Payment.
  • Maintain a flexible and positive attitude, especially with regard to the working environment and highly focused safety and security procedures.
  • Ensure all permits to work are in place.
  • Monitor overall progress against schedule, providing reporting on same to line management, highlighting the potential for slippage and propose remedial actions and signing daily reports.
  • Ensure projects are completed and handed over on schedule.
  • Review project quality plans and ensure compliance with the agreed quality plans.
  • Prepare project close out and “lessons learnt” reports.
  • Implement project HSE Plans, conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Develop Procedures, Scope of Work, and Method Statements as may be required.
  • Review and comment on construction work procedures; assess personnel and equipment for suitability for the work.
  • Liaise with others and supervise materials identification and co-ordination of supply to work sites, ensure adequate inspection and testing is carried out, ensure as-built drawings are produced.
  • Ensure project team and sub-contractors have viable schedules for their work, recognising interfaces with other on-going APDNL activities.
  • Ensure that adequate records are maintained for all inspection and testing carried out.
  • Participate in all pre- commissioning activities.
  • Will be responsible for execution of platform and pipeline projects.
  • Prepare project execution plan and cost estimate and assist in the preparation of tender or service order documents, e.g. preparation of contract scope of work & pricing schedule and evaluate tenders.
  • Supervise the engineering service contractor to deliver the service safely at the agreed cost and time and of the desired quality.
  • Provide assistance in the administration of the project change procedure and review third party estimates for changes.

  • Zero LTI’s.
  • On time and budget delivery of all work scopes.
  • No, or minimal, site modifications or rework.
  • Implementation of Management of Change Procedure as required.
Job Specifications
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5-8 years in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry, with at least 3 years in a similar position with an operating company, Nigerian / West African experience preferred.
  • Minimum 25 years old
Key Competencies Requirements
  • Experience in offshore facilities construction work is essential, especially in the installation of platforms and pipeline laying in shallow water (5 – 15 m), as well as working on facilities expansions where simultaneous production and construction operations are required.
  • Experience of onshore fabrication and construction works for above facilities.
  • A good understanding of the relevant codes and standards for welding work and testing requirements for same is a prerequisite.
  • A reasonable understanding of E & I construction and testing works.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential, for dealing with a broad spectrum of cultural and organisational styles, as well as being able to fit in as a team player.
  • Fit and fully mobile, so as to maintain the supervision at the various locations where activities related to the work will be carried out.
  • A self-starter, able to plan and work way forwards at locations remote from Alliance project engineering and engineering management staff.
  • Proven experience of supervising and coordinating the activities of a multi-discipline construction supervision team.
  • Good communication and team building skills at all levels – able to lead and gain the respect of contractor and 3rd parties.
  • Must be resourceful with the ability to improvise / prioritise when confronted with obstacles without losing focus and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to exercise relevant construction / installation judgement ensuring success of the assigned projects.
  • Proven track record in managing multicultural situations.
  • Results-driven, focussed on delivery and quality of the projects.
  • Able to hold own ground when challenged by others, being able to present a balanced view when putting arguments forward.
  • Comfortable working with a multinational, multicultural team.
  • 6 / 2 Contract position. With additional working periods and onshore relief work as operationally required.
