Handicapped Education Foundation (HANDEF) Nigeria is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to facilitating the education and advancement of the rights and welfare of people with disabilities in Nigeria. Established in 2003 and based in Akure, Ondo state, HANDEF also seeks to bring awareness and action to the plight of the physically-challenged members of the society.

Job Position: Programme Coordinator
 
Job Description:
HANDEF requires a competent candidate for the full-time position of Programme Coordinator for the organisation.

Duties will include:
  • Working closely with the Chairperson on general policy direction of the organisation
  • Developing initiatives in fine with the objectives of the organisation and marketing its products
  • Raising funds and developing partnerships with individual and corporate donors
  • Networking and liaising with international and local organisations in the public, private and NGO space on behalf of HANDEF.
  • Supervising staff across all units in the organisation as well as volunteers
  • Performing general administration activities as pertains to the smooth running of the organisation and the HANDEF Centre
  • Formulating comprehensive programmes for manpower development and training of technical staff
  • Overseeing the maintenance and content update of the organisation’s website and social network pages
  • Performing other duties as maybe assigned by the Chairperson and the Board of Trustees
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of a first degree, preferably in medical, behavioural or social sciences.
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • Experience working with NGOs and passion for people with disabilities
  • Good verbal, interpretive and written communication skills
  • Strong capacity building skills and willingness to train others, coaching and mentoring teammates for performance
  • Sincere desire to be a team-player and a can-do attitude
  • Must be computer literate, comfortable using the Microsoft office suite and familiar enough with web technologies to manage organisation’s website and social network pages
  • Must be able to manage multiple competing constraints and priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to apply initiative and effectively administer people and an office
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
Remuneration:
Competitive and negotiable depending on individual’s experience.
