Deloitte Nigeria - Our client, an Educational Institution in the Eastern part of Nigeria is looking to recruit highly qualified professionals for the role below:

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Imo

Description

• Responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations and performing other accounting duties assigned

Duties

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
• Provide input into department’s goal setting process
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance or equivalent from a recognized Polytechnic or University
• Possession of a professionally recognized Accounting and Finance qualifications such as ANAN, ICAN, CPA and ACCA, among others
• Six (6) years of relevant experience in a University environment or a comparable institution of higher learning
• Possession of relevant Master's Degree or MBA will be an added advantage for this position.
