Job Details

  • We are looking to recruit a Credit Risk Manager who will contribute to the development of our business objectives.

Summary

  • The Credit Risk Manager will work with the finance and operations team, to ensure that credit risk indicators and early warning signs of credit delinquency are monitored proactively and that, recommendations for actions to be taken to ameliorate the situation are made and acted upon.
  • The position is expected to monitor adherence to the company’s credit policy and propose improvements to the company’s credit policy guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess credit activities to identify potential financial, operational and compliance risks which warrant audit attention.
  • Provide projections on the impact of credit exposures in various market segments on the company’s future profitability.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to management to address identified weaknesses in the company’s credit policies and practices.
  • Participate in the review of creditworthiness and risks associated with potential business transactions with appropriate tools and models, with a view to providing mitigants to identified risks.
  • Analyze delinquent accounts and prepare reports on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution
  • Assess borrower or customer’s credit worthiness and credit risk based on internal credit guidelines to determine suitable credit structuring options.
  • Check for credit viability on requests for extended terms, and evaluate various adjustments or exception documents.
  • Work closely with the finance and operations team who deal with credit and quality assurance to proactively identify problem accounts and make timely recommendations to senior management for remedial action
  • Monitor violations of credit policies, provide analysis, conclusion and recommendations, present findings to senior management and suggest actions/penalties to be taken when appropriate
  • Provide advice to all stakeholders with respect to credit risk management policies, practices and standards
  • Prepare timely, comprehensive and reliable credit risk reports to senior and executive management on a periodic basis.
  • Review work performed by subordinates for accuracy, completeness, relevance, and adherence to standard.
  • Develop the departmental budget and contribute actively to the preparation of the company wide budget.
  • Monitor actual activity and performance levels against the approved budget and make recommendations to the senior management to ensure the budget objectives are achieved.
  • Regularly appraise the activities and functions of the department and make recommendations for improvement to the senior management.
  • And Any other task assigned by your supervisor from time to time based on business priorities of the business.

Required Qualification

  • First degree or equivalent in numerate related discipline.
  • Postgraduate/professional qualification in a numerate field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, with at least two (2) years in a managerial role, leadership and credit risk management

Skills:

  • Good knowledge of the finance industry business operations

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the areas of credit risk management and monitoring.
