Job Title: Associate Director, Technical (Rural Telephony)

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • We are currently recruiting for an Associate Director, Technical (Rural Telephony) who will lead technical design, implementation, management and operation of the company’s rural telephony network and services with overall technical ownership and P&L oversight.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Have responsibility for end-to-end delivery and ongoing operations and management of the company’s rural telephony network and services, including network design, implementation, installation, integration and commissioning activities.
  • Establish the company’s technology roadmap in line with market needs and global technology trends, assist in development of the business plan and lead all aspects of its implementation.
  • Own and manage relationships with key suppliers, customers and partners.
  • Own overall supervision of roll-out/ implementation teams to ensure all aspects of material delivery and deployment targets are achieved.
  • Focus on network profitability and devise and execute strategies to ensure necessary interventions and sustain network and business performance
  • Define and implement operational system and processes to ensure business continuity and optimal network performance and growth.
  • Continuously explore ways to improve the delivery of the rural telephony network and services – focusing on enhancing revenue growth across the network.
  • Develop and implement proactive and detailed methodologies for ensuring network performance and profitability analysis.
  • Continuously assess operational and business continuity risks, ensuring timely awareness and deploying mitigating initiatives. Ensure overall network security, reliability and resilience and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Lead, manage, engage and guide the Rural Telephony team to understand and achieve business goals and objectives and take responsibility for achieving set operational performance targets/ requirements for the technical team.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departmental heads, including commercial and revenue assurance teams to plan and advise on technologies and services to meet evolving market needs that enhance revenue.
  • Review individual performance of team-members and complete appraisals in accordance with the company’s performance appraisal procedures and timelines.
  • Actively manage the department’s budget and ensure effective use of the company’s resources on technology investments to grow the business.
  • Provide inputs to the process of identifying training needs of team-members and support overall career growth and personal development of team members in general.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Experience & Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/ Electronic Engineering, and/ or any other related discipline.
  • Strong relevant advanced degree/ Masters will be an asset.
  • +15 years’ relevant experience in the telecoms industry, preferably within an OEM / Operator and infrastructure provider.
