A leading Insurance Company in East Africa requires qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacant position of:

Job Title: Head, Human Resource Management


Location: East Africa
Reporting To: The Managing Director

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall Human Resource functions of the Company, by strategically developing and implementing the Company’s human resources management scheme in accordance with the company’s vision, mission, corporate goals and governing policies and procedures.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Proper implementation of Human Resource policies with the aim of retaining well motivating workforce
  • Ensure manpower planning exercise is in line with the business goals of the company
  • Management of the recruitment process including sourcing, interviewing, reference checking and delivering of induction training
  • Ensure the staff performance appraisals are conducted in a fair way and are submitted on time
  • Design and implementation of manpower training and development programmes in order to build an effective workforce capable of achieving the Company’s set objectives in a cost effective manner
  • Ensure that the Company operates in compliance with national
  • labour legislation and ensure proper health and safety at work
  • Initiate budget estimates and monitor budget implementation for the Section
  • Generate monthly, quarterly and annual reports to
  • Management on human resource activities for internal use
  • Coordinate employees welfare, industrial relations including grievance handling to ensure satisfaction among staff
  • Manage staff disciplinary procedures in line with the Company’s policy
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualification, Experience and Attributes:
  • Master's Degree in Human Resource Management or an equivalent management certification from a recognized University
  • Professional qualification from a recognize Human Capital Development organizations is an added advantage
  • The candidate must have at least 8 years of cognate experience, 5 of which must be at senior level
  • Functional computer knowledge of Information Management
  • Self-driven, innovative and able to work long hours under minimum supervision
