Job Title: Accounting Executive
Location: Lagos
Job Description
This position reports to the Managing Director. He or she is responsible for managing all types of accounts for an insurance broker, including accounts receivable, payroll, investments, pool management, and claims.
Core Responsibilities:
- Managing the daily accounting for all broker dealers and clients.
- Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Perform basic financial analysis of prospective acquisitions for the broker, including investment opportunities and any other source of capital acquisition.
- Keep spreadsheets of incoming revenue, including premiums, interest from investments and payouts from other insurance brokers
- Responsible for tracking outgoing funds, including payouts for claims, operating expenses and other overhead, payroll, and bonuses
- Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
- Implement and document controls and procedures.
- Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
- Provide daily, weekly and monthly workflow
- Prepare monthly financial statements and analysis.
- Respond to requests from regulators and external auditors
- Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws
Requirement
Who should apply?
- A good first degree in Finance or Accounting (minimum of second class lower) from a reputable tertiary institution
- ACA or ACCA qualification or its equivalent will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience in an insurance sector
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Candidate must be an intellectually curious self-starter with ability to work without constant supervision
- Applicants should not be more than 30 years of age.
