Job description Head of Construction, FPSO

WTS Energy is looking for Head of Construction for Oil & Gas Operating Company and their Deepwater project in Nigeria. This is an office based role, in Lagos.

Key responsibilities:
  • Responsible for providing facilities construction services to Field Operations for increased oil & gas production, safe and environmentally friendly activities and cost reduction.
  • Ensures awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations by subordinates and contractors.
  • Prepares, proposes and monitors project schedule / budget and take corrective actions in case of deviations.
  • Compliance with HSE KPI & Objective and assist in compliance with overall HSE requirement.
  • Ensures that safe working practices are carried out within the construction team and the contractors by enforcing Company HSE policies.
  • Responsible for carrying out the whole process of project construction upon receipt of notification approved for Service implementation.
  • Ensures that all works allocated to Construction Department are timely executed with emphasis on HSE, Quality and approved budget.
  • Organises and optimizes Departmental resources to ensure that work is performed such that the outcomes are consistent with the statements of requirements.
  • Follows up with the preparation, review and approval of studies, CFT dossiers, during the tendering stages as it applies to notifications.
  • Ensures clear contract strategy is established for Services in conjunction with Contract.
  • Checks and ensures that due process is followed in the selection of competent contractors to perform assigned works.
  • Plans and supervises the successful execution of the Services using Company approved local Contractors.
  • Ensures that engineering studies/designs are properly done to guarantee constructability at the implementation phase and to ensure compliance with all the Company rules and Nigerian regulations.
  • Ensures that technical specifications and scope of work are clear and well understood by all concerned to avoid mistakes/delays at the implementation phase.
  • Monitors and records the HSE performance to ensure that annual HSE objectives are duly fulfilled.
  • Ensures the availability of the materials to be used for all allocated Services using stock, local market and overseas suppliers.
  • Plans and organises various works supervision and vendors’ offshore mobilization to ensure that works are executed optimally.
  • Ensures that as-built dossiers are collated including all signed off QA/QC documents and copies issued to the Engineering team for document mark up and update if required prior to uploaded into PRODOM by the Document control team.
  • Prepares annual budget forecast for Construction Department and defends the performance before the partners.
  • Assists in sectional manpower planning, development and recruitment.
  • Maintains a permanent communication circuit with customer and contract team during all phases of the project.
  • Develops and increase competency of reporting staff.
Requirements Head of Construction, FPSO
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of active experience in Oil & Gas construction activities including those Offshore and minimum 5 years working for Operator
  • Must be hardworking, dedicated, proactive, positive minded, disciplined and trustworthy
