Job Title: Lead Research Specialist

Location of Job: Head Office - Abuja

Reports to: Project Coordination Consultant

Main Function
  • The lead research specialists will be directly involved in the design, development and production of frameworks and standards for the project. This involves extensive research on all documents relating to the project, ensuring that the information required is adequate and well reflected in the framework.
Role and Responsibilities

Job Functions:
  • The lead research specialist supports the project coordination consultant to carry out the following functions:
Research:
  • Collaborate with the project coordinator to design and develop research project frameworks and action plan.
  • Formulate and conduct research studies and analyses.
  • Performs complex data collection and study methods
  • Analyse and evaluate research results
  • Replicate, refine and add new research approaches based on project needs
  • Test, customise and implement new methods and procedures
  • Develop and write advanced, comprehensive protocols
  • Monitor project development on an ongoing basis. Propose and implement changes as needed.
Communication:
  • Contribute materials, prepare results and assist in the writing of research findings for publication.
  • Write papers and other documents for publication based on research findings
Staff Management:
  • Guide, train and advice the research support assistants on techniques, methods and procedures.
  • Coordinate and direct the work and research tasks of lower level research staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to successfully fulfil the function of the position.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Advanced University degree (Ph.D./Masters or equivalent) in Law or any of the Social Sciences
  • Minimum ten years professional experience in relevant fields, including project management experience as relates to present assignment
  • Proven track record in research analysis and analytical report writing (evidence of writing project reports is an added advantage)
  • Vast knowledge of petroleum related agencies including demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, rules, and regulations governing petroleum agencies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate complex information in a form, which is comprehensible to a diverse audience.
  • Advanced and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with individuals from different social cadres
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, while maintaining the security of confidential and sensitive client information.
  • Advanced IT Skills, high proficiency in the use of Microsoft office packages
