We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Ironer / Assistant Tailor

Location: Oshodi / Mile 2, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Responsibilities

• Presses articles, like drapes, knit goods, millinery parts, parachutes, garments, and slip covers, or delicate textiles, like lace, synthetics, and silks to remove wrinkles, flatten seams, and give shape to article, using hand iron.
• Places article in position on ironing board or worktable.
• Smooths shapes fabric prior to pressing.
• Sprays water over fabric to soften fibers when not using steam iron.
• Adjusts temperature of iron, according to type of fabric, and uses covering cloths to prevent scorching or to avoid sheen on delicate fabrics.
• Pushes pulls iron over surface of article, according to type of fabric.
• Fits odd-shaped pieces which cannot be pressed flat over puff iron.
• May pin, fold, and hang article after pressing.
• Ensures the pressing iron is cleaned each day before use.
• Record required alterations and instructions on tags, and attach them to garments.
• Remove stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers or razor blades.
• Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
• Measure parts such as sleeves or pant legs, and mark or pin-fold alteration lines.
• Fix, remove, repair or replace on garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings.
• Sew buttonholes and attach buttons in order to finish garments.
• Trim excess material, using scissors.
• Fix tags on garments to finish garments.

Job Requirements

• Qualification: SSCE and above
• Candidates must be able to Iron clothes.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Minimum of 1 year experience.
• Applicants should reside around Oshodi/Mile2area.
