Project Description:Since 1998, IFES has implemented a capacity-building program in support of the professionalization of Nigerias electoral process. IFES is designing a program to further the consolidation of democracy in Nigeria through initiatives in the areas of election technical support, voter registration, and civic education.
Job Responsibilities: Oversight of all aspects of the Nigeria program, including programmatic, financial and administrative management;
Serves as the main point of contact in headquarters for Nigeria and responsible for backstopping the program;
Seeks out business development opportunities in Nigeria, drafts proposals for new donors;
Oversees all reporting to the donor in collaboration with field-based and headquarters staff;
Spearheads recruitment of consultants for the program;
Responsible for start up and close out;
Prepares budgets and approves field expense reports. Responsible for financial oversight of projects in collaboration and partnership with Finance Team.
Establishes, maintains and develops relationship with peers, subordinates, funder community and consultants at large for the purpose of business development and information dissemination.
Provides guidance in design, implementation, evaluation, and overall management of project(s).
Travels to field office on a regular basis to oversee/monitor project activities; meet and strengthen relationship with partners.
Serves a team manager. Provides professional developmental opportunities for junior Program staff. Evaluates performance of Program Assocaites.
Qualifications: BS/BA with 8+ years experience OR MA with 6+ years of experience in international development or related field.
Experienced with budget management of international development projects.
Prior experience working or studying in Africa preferred.
Program design and project management experience.
Organized, effective time and resource manager.
Ability to direct staff, prioritize, handle multiple roles & responsibilities in a fluid and dynamic environment.
Knowledgable and experienced with USAID grant proposals, regulations, and procedures.
Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Collaborative, team oriented individual.
Strong managerial skills and abilities.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
