Job Description

• The Polytechnic Librarian is a Principal Officer and head of the Polytechnic’s Library, and shall be responsible for the smooth running of the Polytechnic’s Library system and shall report to the Rector.

Qualification / Experience
The Candidate for the Polytechnic Librarian must:

• Possess a good honours Degree in Library Science from a recognized institution of higher learning. Possession of higher degree(s) is an advantage.
• Give evidence of current membership of Library Professional Bodies and registration with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN);
• Give sufficient evidence of continual scholarship and contribution to knowledge through publications in reputable peer review outlets.
• Proficient in ICT packages
• Have a minimum of Ten (10) cognate experience at the Library management position in a tertiary institution.
• Have occupied the position of a Assistant Chief Librarian or Deputy Librarian in a tertiary institution
• Must not be more than 59 years of age as at the time of assumption of duty.

Tenure of Appointment / Condition of Service

• The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years.
• The conditions of service for the post are the same as obtained in all Federal Polytechnics in the country.
• In addition, the appointee shall enjoy any other benefits attached to the position of a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic.
