We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Communication Consultant

Project Summary

  • The USAID/Nigeria funded Integrated Child Health and Social Service Award (ICHSSA) is to ensure that Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) are cared for, and protected by their households, communities, and local and state government to reduce their vulnerability to HIV.
  • CCCRN urgently require the service of skilled, competent, and seasoned specialist in the field of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program who understands the recent development in PEPFAR programming for Children and households susceptible to HIV.

Assignment Background

  • The objectives of this consultancy are: (i) to support CCCRN in developing a communication Blue Print as to showcase its strategic role and contribution in Nigeria and to the global body of knowledge on effective health solutions within resource constrained settings (ii) facilitate strategic information delivery, shared learning and maximize communication opportunities and (iii) to enhance internal and external information sharing and outreach of the CCCRN projects. iv) Mentor a team of communication specialist in subsequent implementation of this Blue Print.
  • The objectives would be achieved through a range of public relations activities and communication channels including digital and social media, internal communication, learning events and speaking opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the CEO and the Project Directors, and in collaboration with the various departmental team leads, the consultant will undertake the following:

  • Interface with Team Leads and Develop an organization wide communication Strategy proposal
  • Support the organization in designing, developing, reviewing, editing and translating of communication materials.
  • Work across the organization to identify projects compelling stories and messages that are engaging, motivating and high quality, and which communicate impact and showcase the work of the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for creating and delivering inspiring and attractive multimedia content about the work of the organization.
  • Contribute to identifying new and creative ways to enhance the visibility and outreach of the work of the organization.
  • Support the organization with the creation and/or delivery of communications activities and products such as written content, newsletters, case studies, including infographics and learning events, related to the work of the organization.
  • Lead the development of organization’s community strategy and ensure that all communication materials synergize with the organization’s communications strategies and donor branding criteria
  • Ensure all communication material is targeted at agreed audiences and delivers agreed key messages.
  • Support the organization in documenting learnings and building an ‘on-line repository’ and setup of SharePoint of communication materials.
  • Develop, review and obtained approved communication contents for publication in organization’s social media handles (facebook, twitter,instagram).
  • Directly be responsible for management website and social media platforms, updates as well as feedbacks from audience.
  • Provide in-house mentoring on role of project team in design of a communication peace.
  • Lead the development of CCCRN’s 10 years compelling newsletters and documentary for publication and dissemination.

Duration of Assignment:

  • The consultancy will be for a duration of 3 months (60 days) and will lead transition of communication activities to the Communication specialist.

Qualification and Experience
The suitable candidate:

  • The consultant should have a relevant Master’s degree and background in journalism/or communication /or marketing and an ability to work with a diverse range of colleagues to bring the stories to life.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with a proven professional record working in the field of communication.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, with a working knowledge of the other language.

The Consultant is expected to have the following skills and abilities:

  • Fast, accurate, creative and versatile writing skills, including for digital media.
  • Strong ability to see newsworthy stories quickly and easily.
  • Experience in creating engaging social media assets and image editing.
  • Good understanding of the issues relating to Human Resources and Corporate Services management in an international arena.
  • Ability to analyze complex information quickly and simply for audiences.
  • Good political and personal judgment

Reporting Line / Supervision:

  • The consultant will work under the overall guidance and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer or his designee.

Internal Relationship:

  • The consultant is expected to work very closely with the Project Directors, Departmental Leads, Strategic Information Officers, Database Manager, State Program Managers (or proxy)

External Relationship:

  • The consultant will also have opportunity to interact with representatives of the CBOs and government partners.
