Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The role of our Project Manager includes planning and overseeing projects within the confines of a company's goals and vision, to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within the agreed budget.
  • They plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with engineers to determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • Predict and defend resources needed to reach objectives and negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
  • Compute or modify budget estimates for approval, prepare payment requests for approval, confirm and record payments completed and balances and file away the payment acknowledgement.
  • Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Source and vet Site Foremen (where necessary), skilled and unskilled labourers, manage labour records, manage labour payments, retrieve from site and forward to head office the invoices and time sheets, request payments and file away the payment acknowledgement.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety standards and report issues.
  • Monitor progress and prepare detailed monthly reports to Management.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Ensuring company HSE policies are correctly applied.
  • Appropriately manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation.

Skills and Qualifications Required
Candidate:

  • Must have an HND or B.Sc in a relevant field and may be COREN certified.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 - 7 years project management experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
  • Must have experience in budgeting and analysis.
  • Must have solid technical background, with hands-on experience in the use of project management tools.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Must be a critical thinker with strong analytic skills.
  • Must be a strong communicator, have great interpersonal skills and must be extremely resourceful.
  • Must be able to multitask and be keen on solving problems.
  • Must have excellent leadership skills.
  • PMP / PRINCE II certification is an added advantage.
